Purpose
The Nutritionist 2 Field Officer works with the Nutrition Delegate to assess, plan, implement and monitor the Economic Security (EcoSec) Unit’s nutrition activities in South Sudan in line with the country strategy.
Functional Responsibilities
* Works with Nutrition Delegate other Nutrition Field Officer(s) and EcoSec teams to identify nutrition needs in the country.
- Supports multi-disciplinary assessments, identifies needs and contributes to planning and implementation of new programmes and ongoing monitoring of existing programmes.
- Supports the capacity building of EcoSec or other ICRC staff, SSRC and selected community member on nutrition related issues through facilitation or co-facilitation of trainings, workshops and other appropriate means (e.g. on the job training, demonstrations, etc.)
- Supports the drafting of assessment reports including data analysis and presents results and recommendations if needed
- Support the drafting/development of new or updating of existing tools for nutrition programming
- Draft field trip reports with constructive recommendations for every field trip undertaken and supports in reporting writing for other nutrition activity reports as needed (e.g. monthly and quarterly reports)
- In collaboration with the Nutrition Delegate, propose and initiate improvements according to the lessons learnt during programming and the findings from assessments conducted in the programme period.
- In collaboration with the Nutrition Delegate, adjust the nutrition activities to any change in the context.
- Develops and maintains a dialogue with other EcoSec staff, health staff, other staff and SSRC staff/volunteers relevant for the effective implementation of nutrition activities at Juba and field level.
- Conduct frequent field visits (based on security clearance) to implement and/or monitor nutrition activities in the EcoSec project areas in South Sudan
Certification/ Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in nutritional science or public health, or equivalent work experience.
- 3-5 years of working experience implementing nutrition programmes at community and health facility level
- Strong experience in implementing nutrition sensitive approaches
- Experience in CMAM and IYCF
- Experience in nutrition surveys and food security assessments
- Strong experience in facilitation of trainings to beneficiaries
- Proven analytical, communication/ negotiation skills and ability to think strategically
- Experience in report writing
- Advanced proficiency in the use of MS Office
- Good command (spoken and written) of English
- Good command (spoken) of Juba Arabic
- Willingness to travel up to 90% of the time
