The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations is a specialized agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger and improve nutrition and food security. Its Latin motto, fiat panis, translates to “let there be bread”. It was founded in October 1945.
Organizational Setting: The FAO Representation in South Sudan is organized around three main units: Programme, Operations and Administration. The current portfolio of projects in South Sudan includes activities related to Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, Natural Resource Management and works in all the 10 states. One of FAO South Sudan’s Country Programme Framework Strategy (CPF) outcome is to promote agriculture-based economic growth and incomes increased. This is by engaging in selected commodity enterprises sectors that have potential generate increased income and increased average per capita agriculture based income for the stakeholders.
- Eligibility Criteria:
- University Degree preferably in Agribusiness, Business Administration Rural Development or related field with a minimum of five years relevant experience
- A minimum of five years of relevant experience in Agribusiness, market and trade development.
- A South Sudanese National
- Working knowledge of English and limited knowledge of Arabic is an added advantage.
